The mission of the PTSA is to:
- Support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
- Assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
- Encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
It is our goal as the Freedom Middle School PTSA to continue this tradition to enrich the lives of our children by providing:

First Day of School - 8/11/14
PTSA is open to all parents, students and staff.
Annual PTSA Dues are $10 per person.

8/6/14 4:30-6:30 FMS Open House - Meet the PTSA Executive Committee members and sign up for membership and volunteer for fundraising committees.
9/12/14 - PTSA - Skate Party - All American Skating Rink
11/13/14 - PTSA General Meeting #1 5:30- 6:00 (library)
12/11/14 - PTSA General Meeting 5:30 - 6:00
12/20/14 - Spirit of Freedom Community Awards/Silent Auction 6pm - 9pm (TBD)

1. Gain more teacher & administrative staff members/partner with Principal/teacher board member
2. Have a larger Taste of Freedom/Silent Auction
3. Recognize a staff member and student of the month with a Chick Fil A or Gas gift card.
4. Contribute at least $1000 to Teacher Appreciation Week
5. Apply for grants with a functioning Grant Writing Committee
6. Gain a functioning Publicity Committee for all events
7. Have a back to school dance on August 22nd with at least 20 parent volunteers helping.
8. Have a mini - college tour
9. Have a college scholarship and grants workshop
10. Have a STEM night
11. Participate in the National Reflections Competition
12. Have a Mr. and Miss Freedom Event
13. Continue to have more clarity with the PTSA and treasury reports
14. Have the top middle school in DeKalb
15. Work with SGA to make homecoming an event that the alumni would want to attend.
16. Have enough money to contribute $200 to administrators and secretaries day.
17. Have at least $2,000 to help with the beautification of the school and additional supplies or purchases necessary to make the school better and more efficient.
18.. Have a class representative or a parent champion at each PTSA meeting.
19. Have a credit repair and home buying workshop.
20. Have a swap meet or flea market
21. Have an International Day to Celebrate our school's diversity
22. Have a fall festival.
23. Establish detailed project plans for each event and have them archived for future PTSA groups.
24. Have a school store.
25. Help people to have more faith and pride in Freedom Middle School by increasing parent, teacher, student and community involvement.
We need volunteers to meet the goals mentioned above because the four of us can not do it alone. Below we have listed some committees. Please tell us which one you can be a part of.
