A call for a new executive board for 2014-2015

The PTSA nominating committee is seeking potential candidates to run for office and serve during the 2014-15 school year.  We are asking you for recommendations of potential nominees.With that said, are there any parents with which you interact that would be good candidates for PTSA office? If so, please provide their names and contact information.

M.A.L.E.S. Conference

We would like to invite all of our male students in the district and their fathers, uncles, grandfathers and/or mentors to attend the M.A.L.E.S. (Motivated Achievers Leading and Empowering Successfully!) Conference on Saturday, March 29th at Martin Luther King, Jr. High School, hosted by the Region 4 Cluster. This free conference will give boys and men opportunities to ask questions and have open dialogue in a safe and supportive environment about life challenges and being successful in the 21st century.
Session topics will include co-parenting and single fatherhood, gang awareness, powerful conversations about mothers raising sons, interactive self-defense demonstrations and navigating the challenges of hip-hop culture.
This free conference will be held from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. at Martin Luther King, Jr., High School, 3991 Snapfinger Road, Lithonia. Lunch will be provided. Narvie J. Harris Excellence in Education Award

DeKalb County Council of PTAs is accepting nomination applications for the Narvie J. Harris Excellence in Education Award. All nominees must teach at a DeKalb County School District school and be a current member of the PTA where they teach. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on March 28, 2014. The award recipient will be announced at the April 17th Council Scholarship and Awards Meeting. Please email completed nomination forms to dekalbcouncilptas@gmail.com.
